Why it helps

Works with or without fault codes, so symptom-only cases (noise, rough idle) can be diagnosed as well as code-driven ones.

The diagnostic form is where you tell WrenchLane what is wrong. Describe the problem in your own words, add any fault codes (error codes) you have, enter the odometer reading and click Analyze.

You need either a description or at least one error code. That means symptom-only jobs, like a noise or a rough idle, can be diagnosed just like code-driven ones.

How to

  1. Select a vehicle and open the Diagnostic card (Diagnostic / Diagnos)
  2. Fill Description (Description / Beskrivning), Error codes (Error codes / Felkoder) and Kilometers or Miles (Kilometers / Kilometer)
  3. Click Analyze (Analyze / Analysera)

Good to know

  • Either a description or at least one error code is required.
  • Codes should look like P0011, 12345 or 3F4A. Codes longer than 16 characters are not recognised, and up to 20 codes are looked up.
  • Free plan: 1 diagnostic per day. When you reach the limit the form shows 'Daily diagnostic limit reached' with an Upgrade button.
  • If you use imperial units, the mileage field shows Miles instead of Kilometers.

Can I diagnose a car without a fault code?

Yes. A description of the symptoms is enough, for example a noise or a rough idle. The form needs either a description or at least one error code.

Which fault code formats can I enter, and how many?

Codes such as P0011, 12345 or 3F4A work, and up to 20 codes are looked up at a time. Manufacturer codes such as BMW CD0100 are looked up whole, and each code's meaning appears under the field as you type.
