Ask WrenchLane is a chat for the car in front of you. Every identifiable car has one ongoing chat thread. Ask anything about the vehicle in plain language and the answer streams in, using the car's data and the diagnostic or repair you have on screen.
The chat can sit in the middle of the page or be docked to the left or right. On phones it opens full screen.
How to
- Select a vehicle
- Click Open chat, the chat icon at the right end of the search bar (or pick 'Ask WrenchLane: <your question>' in the search bar)
- Ask in the panel 'Ask anything about this <make>'
- Use Clear chat or Close in the panel header
- The chat opens docked on the right. Use Move chat to the center, then Dock chat to the left or Dock chat to the right
Good to know
- You need a selected, identified vehicle.
- Free plan: 3 chat messages per day. At the limit you see 'Daily chat limit reached' with an option to upgrade for unlimited chat.
- There is one thread per car. 'Clear chat' removes all messages and cannot be undone.
- Answers use your language and your unit system (metric or imperial).
- Answers can include up to 6 manual images when you have technical data access for the car.
- Off-topic questions are declined.
- The chat opens docked on the right. Move it to the center first to dock it on the left.

Does WrenchLane use metric or imperial units?
Accounts in the US and the UK use imperial units (miles); all others use metric. Diagnosis answers and the chat follow the same units.
